In August 2022, I was appointed to fill an open seat on the Maine Township High School D207 Board of Education after a member moved out of the district. It is an honor to fill the seat. As a 1993 graduate of Maine South, one of D207's four high schools, I was excited to have the opportunity to serve the school district which played such an important role in my educational development. My appointment to the D207 School Board gave me the opportunity to represent not only Des Plaines, but also the eight other communities that make up Maine Township.
In April of 2023, I was elected to a 4-year term on the board, and in May of 2024 I was elected unanimously by my board colleagues to be the board's Vice President.
Maine Township has a long record of academic excellence, with the distinction of being ranked one of the best high school districts in Illinois. As Vice President, it is my highest goal to ensure that District 207 continues its tradition of academic excellence and innovation while ensuring that all four of our campuses continue to strive for equity in education. It is vital that all students have access to vigorous curriculum that taps each student’s full potential.
I began serving on the Executive Board of EdRed
in June 2025, filling the seat of retired
board member, Carla Owen.
ED-RED was established in the fall of 1971 by seven north suburban high school districts, and has expanded to include 13 high school districts, 64 elementary school districts, 2 unit districts, 2 Special Education Cooperatives and 3 Intermediate Service Centers in Cook and Lake Counties. Legislatively, ED-RED’s area includes all or part of 19 of the present 59 Senate districts and 30 of the 118 House districts.
ED-RED has an Executive Board of twelve district administrators and board members
