My family and I have been residents of Des Plaines, IL since 2007. Over the past 18 years, we’ve enjoyed making friends with our neighbors and our children have taken advantage of Des Plaines’ great schools, park district, youth baseball program and many other offerings.
Our oldest son, Austin, is a senior at Maine West High School where he plays the euphonium in the marching and concert bands. His younger brother, Owen, is a sophomore at Maine West and is an avid skate boarder who enjoys hanging out at the skate park with his friends.
In August 2022, I was appointed to fill an open seat on the Maine Township High School D207 Board of Education after a member moved out of the district. It is an honor to fill the seat. As a 1993 graduate of Maine South, one of D207's four high schools, I was excited to have the opportunity to serve the school district which played such an important role in my educational development. My appointment to the D207 School Board gave me the opportunity to represent not only Des Plaines, but also the eight other communities that make up Maine Township.
In April of 2023, I was elected to a 4-year term on the board, and in May of 2024 I was elected unanimously by my board colleagues to be the board's Vice President.
Maine Township has a long record of academic excellence, with the distinction of being ranked one of the best high school districts in Illinois. As Vice President, it is my highest goal to ensure that District 207 continues its tradition of academic excellence and innovation while ensuring that all four of our campuses continue to strive for equity in education. It is vital that all students have access to vigorous curriculum that taps each student’s full potential.
